A public official is an individual who is an employee of or otherwise in the service of a public authority, for example a Council employee.
The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 provides protection for public officials disclosing corrupt conduct, maladministration, government information contraventions, local government pecuniary interest contraventions, privacy contraventions, and serious and substantial waste of public money in the public sector.
