FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who can speak at a CBLPP Meeting?
Any member of the public can address the Panel. Any person can also speak as a representative of a local community organization or authority. PLEASE NOTE: All CBLPP meetings are audio recorded and published on Council’s web page.
Are there any restrictions on what I can speak about?
You may only speak on matters listed on the agenda of the meeting at which you wish to speak. To be fair to everyone, you can only speak once at a meeting.
Are there any rules for speaking at the meeting?
Each speaker has five (5) minutes. Again for fairness to everyone, no extensions of time are given.
You are not permitted to approach any Panel member prior to the meeting and you are not permitted to distribute any printed information; sketches etc to Panel members during the meeting. Should you wish to present any additional material/information in support of your address to the Panel, you must submit this material/information to Council at least one (1) week prior to the Panel meeting date. Council staff will review the additional material/information submitted and will circulate same to the Panel members with relevant assessment as required.
Any person who has made a submission on an application (or their representative) will be permitted to speak first and the applicant (or their representative) will be permitted to address the Panel following submitters. Panel members may have questions arising from any address to them. The applicant and their representatives will be permitted to speak after submitters in order to answer any questions arising from Panel members in response to matters that may be raised during a submitter’s address to them.
How do I arrange to speak at a meeting?
Simply complete this Application form at least two (2) working days before the meeting is to be held.
