Multi-unit residential dwellings
All units, townhouses and villas classified as residential in Councils rating system, are entitled to a standard waste service with a standard domestic waste charge applied per unit. Bins are allocated in two ways:
A. Individual bins:- for townhouses/villas where bins are stored on each individual property
120L of waste, red lidded bin, serviced weekly
240L of recycling, yellow lidded bin,
serviced fortnightly
240L of garden organics, green lidded bin
serviced fortnightly (alternate week to recycling)
B. Shared bins:- for unit blocks with a shared bin bay
Each unit is allocated equal volume of waste as a single dwelling and an equal waste charge is applied, however large 240L waste bins are shared and recycling bins are serviced weekly.
Bins are allocated at the ratio of:
1 x 240L waste bin per 2 units,
serviced weekly
1 x 240L recycling bin per 2 units,
serviced weekly
1 x 240L garden organics bin per 10 units,
serviced fortnightly
NB additional bins are available free of charge upon application
Other property types
Multi-unit properties where units are not separately strata titled:- the same charges and waste service applies as for unit blocks above
Boarding houses:- waste service and charges are applied according to number of residential units/rooms on the property with waste generation of 60L per unit/room per week for waste and recycling.
Mixed developments which include a combination of residential and commercial rated properties:
Residential units: the same charges and waste service applies as for unit blocks above
Commercial units: a waste service and charge is NOT automatically applied. Where a commercial premises requires a waste service, they must apply separately either through a private contractor or with Council by completing the online

Increased waste service required:
The standard domestic waste service allocation as above is recommended by the NSW EPA and is generally adequate for an average five member household. However, in circumstances where the standard service is not sufficient, application can be made to Council for an increased waste service (eg households with two or more children in nappies or where there are more than five occupants)
